Overview
Smithsonian Experiences provides a VIP look at our nation’s museums. World-renown scholars welcome groups into their museums, laboratories, and collections to share their enthusiasm for learning on a personal level.
Custom-designed specifically to meet your organization’s
goals, Smithsonian Experiences enhances group learning and offers exclusive event opportunities. Programs increase knowledge base, expand skills, foster creative teamwork, inspire imagination, and lead to better understanding of world cultures. Events are also entertaining and provide an unforgettable glimpse at the depth and breadth of the Smithsonian, something usually grasped only by insiders. Privately tour a featured African art exhibition and then design your own; learn how textile conservation laboratories operate; discuss the solar system with leading scientists and guide a Mars Rover model; explore the vast holdings of a state of the art museum storage facility; visit the new Oceans Hall before public hours to track a whale; and much more. Working with a Smithsonian Program Coordinator, you determine topics and program format that best achieve your group’s objectives.
Experts chosen to lead Smithsonian Experiences represent the diverse areas of research in art, history, and science at the Smithsonian Institution and have demonstrated their ability to successfully engage many different kinds of audiences. The scholars conduct visual presentations, incorporate hands-on activities, lead behind-the-scenes tours of collections, or conduct team-building exercises to effectively illustrate concepts and share ideas with group members.
Programs are ideal for conference groups, corporate “think outside the box” workshops, university alumni reunions, employee reward or incentive packages, relationship building experiences at meetings, as a special “thank you” to donors, in-depth school tours, and others. Smithsonian Experiences offers unique and memorable events for any group!
